Art collection consultation - Hertfordshire County Council

Add your views on artworks held by Hertfordshire County Council, as part of the fine collection is reviewed between January and April 2018. Different types of artwork are open for comments every fortnight over the coming weeks.
More details are below, and online at https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/about-the-council/consultations/property/art-collection-consultation.aspx

'We're proposing to dispose of 428 artworks.
Before we do that, we'd like to show you the works here and invite feedback.
For example, you may want to let us know that you feel a particular painting is significant to Hertfordshire. Or you may be interested in acquiring a piece.
We're inviting comments on each category separately, between now and April.
We're currently seeking residents' views on the Acrylics and oil paintings. Have your say by 4 February 2018'.

Background:

We have a collection of 1,826 works of art, the majority of which were bought by the council between 1940 and 2000 and many are now in storage.
Professional art consultants reviewed the collection in 2016. We'd now like to reduce the collection to 167 works that are highly significant to the history of Hertfordshire.
To start with, we're proposing to dispose of 428 works. Later in 2018, we'll develop plans for the remaining 1,232 works that have been identified for disposal. Some of the money raised will go towards the conservation of the 167 important works we're retaining.

Categories of artwork:

1. Acrylics and oil paintings – 112 works including the Great Bardfield artists Edward Bawden and Kenneth Rowntree, and Sussex Modernist artist Edward Wadsworth.
2. Drawings and watercolours – 70 works.
3. Lithographs and silkscreens – 95 works.
4. Aquatints and etchings – 114 works.
5. Miscellaneous works – 37 works, including lino cuts, pots and textiles.
