Contemporary British Painting Prize 2021

The Contemporary British Painting Prize Exhibition 2021 will be selected from an open call for contemporary painters currently working in the British Isles. The winner will be selected from at least twelve shortlisted painters who will each exhibit at least three works at the Huddersfield exhibition.

Stacie McCormick, founder of Unit 1 Gallery, will also select and curate works from the Huddersfield show for the London exhibition. The prizewinner will receive £2000, an essay on their work, and an invitation to become a member of Contemporary British Painting as well as a selector for the CBP Prize 2022.

All exhibitors will receive a £100 exhibitor's fee and CBP will contribute to costs of transporting selected artworks.

The panel of judges will select one prizewinner and one highly commended painter from the CBP Prize exhibition.

The prize judges for 2021 are:

Matthew Burrows MBE, a contemporary British painter and founder of Artist Support Pledge

Julie Lomax, CEO of a-n Artists Information Company

Grant Scanlan, curator and head of programming at Huddersfield Art Gallery
