Flow3

Flow3

Whatever I'm working on, there seem to be three themes - reduced colour palettes, repetition/patterns and branching out from a single point.

I'm very excited that working through Flow produced a number of branches for further investigation: simple palette sets, transforming existing work through different media, and moving up in size/format.

Flow 3 therefore represents one such branch point - moving from paper back to canvas, sumi to acrylics, black on white to other colour sets, from small detail to larger abstractions.

Again in Flow3, there are real and abstract Japanese hiragana built into the overall square pattern and shape. Built on a background of simple colour blends, I used a single acrylic colour to see if I could imitate the flow of sumi and am delighted to say I think it worked.
