Sunspots

Sunspots

Sunspots was created from a bank of square canvases where I had created different graduated colour backgrounds from a very reduced selection of acrylic colours.

As I started to add over layers, I found myself just following a curve and seeing where it took me. I went from colour ground to background to layered shapes then the final layer was to complete some of the shapes and add colour gradients.

As I was painting, I really felt that I had to complete it quickly, so as not to lose the moment. Truly a painting that evolved form the brush, without any planning or preconceptions, a sunspot bursting out.
