Basketry Workshop: Discovering Twining at the Oxmarket Gallery

Basketry Workshop: Discovering Twining at the Oxmarket Gallery

Working with card, rope and threads, learn the technique of twining, to weave two small baskets. Twining is worked in the hands. It uses two threads woven in turn, to create a line with a series of twists. The two baskets will be different, one with a square plaited card base, the other with a rounded crossover rope base. The day is intended as a skills based day; to try out a technique or perhaps as a refresher. At the end of the day students should take home two finished baskets.
Workshops are suitable for beginners and those with a little more experience. I will demonstrate the technique, provide visual notes and offer individual support. All materials and equipment will be provided. Students might like to bring a notebook, pencil and camera. Reading glasses may be required for close work.

Places on the workshop are limited and must be pre-booked. Students must be aged 18 years or over. All materials and equipment will be provided.Tea, coffee and biscuits available (am and pm). Lunch is not provided, so please either bring a packed lunch or purchase lunch from the many shops and cafes close to the Oxmarket in Chichester city centre.
