This is a four-week online course in Foundation Painting and will cover the basics of painting.

We will learn about these through simple step by step exercises, tutorials and video demonstrations.

Comprehensive lesson plans will be sent to each student prior to the class that will give guidance on the forthcoming lesson and include a comprehensive list of materials required for each. Basic painting materials will be used throughout each part of the course.

Who is this Course for?

This course is suitable for anyone who has an interest in learning how to paint and develop their skill and understanding of the visual process and world.

Course Materials

The course requires basic painting materials including cartridge paper, (sketchbook), watercolour paper, drawing pencils (HB, 2B, 4B), a permanent pen (black or brown), some brushes and a basic set of paints (a tin of watercolour paint and/or some gouache, poster and/or acrylic. A set of the primary colours plus white are a good basic starting point. These are all water-based paints, watercolour is transparent, and gouache/poster are opaque. Acrylic is a permanent paint). If you have any additional art materials these can also be included as part of your personal kit.

We advise not to buy any materials until the course is confirmed to run.

A minimum of 5 people is required to run this workshop, or we reserve the right to cancel and refund participants in full.

About the Tutor

Lyn Bruce is an experienced artist and teacher and has worked in all areas of education including university, further and adult education.

Lyn is a practising artist with an extensive knowledge of a wide range of materials, processes and techniques.
