An opportunity has arisen for an event project manager to help deliver Northern Quarter, Huddersfield’s Unprecedented Events.
We are seeking an experienced event project manager who will be responsible for the coordination of twelve events over the course of a year: from November 2020 to October 2021.
Working closely with the Venue Manager you will be responsible for the organisation and running of these special events.

The post is for 120 hours over 12 months – the working schedule is mostly flexible, although you will be expected to attend all the events and have regular meetings with the Venue Manager.

Person specifications:
• A knowledge of the local music scene
• A passion for community involvement
• Experience in organising events
• A creative outlook on event organisation
• A team player, keen on working collaboratively
• Understanding of Northern Quarter’s goals and achievements
You must be available for the recruitment interview (29/10/20)

Job role:
• Recruiting the acts and compere for the twelve performances
• Liaising and collaborating with the promotion team, venue management and compere
• Organising the video shoots for all twelve performances
• Planning and organising all twelve events
• Ensuring the events run to plan
• Evaluating the project

Unprecedented Events is a pandemic-resilient, high production digital media project for grassroots music in Huddersfield. An inclusive open call-out for artists will determine twelve performances to be filmed and projected in 4k on a 150’’ screen to a socially distanced audience in historically important grassroots music venue, Northern Quarter. Supported by Kirklees Council’s ‘Year of Music 2023’, the project will provide new ways for emerging artists’ to develop and engage local audiences through the innovation and adaptation of digital performance styles.

Northern Quarter is a safe, inclusive space for developing artists and new & existing audiences. NQ has hosted Grammy Award winning Keyon Harold, Cultural Olympiad Yazz Ahmed, Mercury Prize nominated Laura Jurd, Björk drummer Chris Corsano & PRS supported Vula Viel.

Heritage:
• In the 60s/70s, the location of NQ was the ‘Builders Club’ – NQ has resurrected features & events of the historic venue
• NQ PA system was built for the venue by the author of Soundsystem Culture and creator of Heritage HiFi, Paul Huxtable
• The PA is partly powered by 80s Matamps, built in Huddersfield
