An Introduction to Improv

Using fun games and activities this course will teach participants how to use audience suggestions to create hilarious scenes from thin air!

This Introduction to Improv aims to equip participants with the basic skills necessary to take suggestions from the audience and use them to create full scenes - totally on the spot!
As this is a beginner’s course, no prior experience is necessary – all you need is the desire to try something new.

Over the course of ten weeks, you will learn how to use audience suggestions to spark your creativity, create characters and escalate drama to comical effect. By the end, participants will be confident working with their fellow performers to create hilarious scenes with twists and turns that are just as surprising to them as to the audience!

You will play a series of games that help to frame the scenes you create. Will you be an elite agent sent on a top secret mission, but equipped with the most useless items known to man? Will you be a mad scientist, asked to explain your ground-breaking research into monkey teleportation? Or perhaps you will simply be an ordinary office worker in conversation with your boss, except your words have been (not-so) carefully chosen by the audience…

Because each scene is built upon a suggestion from the audience you never know what you’re going to get, so each session is guaranteed to be fun, fresh and totally unique! From the witty and the wild to the outright wacky, the possibilities are endless. So come on and find out where Improv can take you!
