Navigating Schools

Are you a cultural organisations or practitioner working within the Royal Opera House Bridge region?

- explore the current context in which schools are currently working at a national, regional and local level

- develop a stronger understanding and closer working with the formal education sector

- hear first-hand updates on education change and practical advice on how to engage with schools

- network and discuss how the cultural sector can position itself within the changing needs of the education sector.

Sam Cairns, from the Cultural Learning Alliance will provide an overview of recent national policy changes including the new curriculum and potential implications for the cultural sector.

She will also talk about the range of schools now available including the policies that support them and what is required of them.

Christine Lenihan, a former Headteacher, will be present to give a perspective on what schools need from the cultural sector. She will offer practical advice on how the cultural sector can engage with schools, including the language to use and examples of what cultural programmes are working in schools, and why.

A member of the ROH Bridge team will also be on hand to provide information about local networks and other sources of local and digital information.
