Stuart Hawkes Men's Talk- applied theatre/mental health

Men's Talk is CLEAR's innovative performance project for men.

Applied Theatre is the practice of using theatre and drama in non-traditional settings and/or with marginalized communities. It encompasses theatre practices that tackle areas of social and cultural policy such as public health, education, housing, social welfare, and juvenile and criminal justice.

Following its’ inaugural performance on World Mental Health Day, Men’s Talk has been well received by a range of audiences including: health professionals, teachers, DWP staff, mental health workers, service users and their families.

Created and performed by men with lived experience of mental health issues, Men’s Talk aims to raise awareness and encourage debate around men’s mental health.

The piece runs for approx. 25 minutes and is followed by a short question and answer session.
