Artist designs mural for Queensgate Market Event Space

Artist designs mural for Queensgate Market Event Space

Artist, Kasia Breska, has been developing ideas for a mural to brighten up the Event Space in Queensgate Market and you can get a sneak preview of her ideas in this image.

You can also see a video of a model Kasia has built in black and white to give an idea of how the space will work. The walls will mostly be in colour but one wall will be black and white with an interactive element to it. Symbols will hide a word or a phrase and playfully show the meaning of the place from the perspective of it's users. https://twitter.com/i/status/1025048023037083648

Kasia has been working with staff and students from the University of Huddersfield, talking to market users and researching the unique building to come up with designs that are derived from the architectural elements of the building. You can follow Kasia's work on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/breskastudio or Twitter https://twitter.com/breskastudio

The project is part of the Temporary Contemporary initiative which places contemporary art within vacant spaces within Queensgate Market. and is a partnership between the traders at Queensgate Market, Kirklees Council Markets and Creative Economy Teams and the School of Art, Design and Architecture, University of Huddersfield.
