Reflection
Taking time to reflect, create and share
21st July - 26th August 2016

Take some time to reflect at Artistsmeet this summer, as the space hosts a very special exhibition formed of two bodies of artwork, each focusing on reflection, creating and sharing - produced by residents from the local community.

One half of the exhibition is dedicated to local heritage and the memories shared by residents at our ‘Leavesden Heritage Day’ event in Leavesden Country Park, which took place on Saturday 9th July.
The event funded by Heritage Lottery Fund enabled Three Rivers residents to explore and engage with local historians, take part in a guided history walk and share their stories in an art activity, which brought heritage to life in exciting ways.

The ‘Family Tree’ re-created at Artistsmeet was originally formed in the park and is full of memories and stories captured from those young and old. If you have a story that you would like to share about Leavesden Country Park, you are welcome to add it to the tree when you visit.

The other half of the exhibition presents work from one of the Leisure Team’s Community Art projects - Beyond the Page, which has seen artist Flea Cooke work with a group at the New Hope Community Market Garden in Watford, on a project exploring memory, hopes and journey.

Using collage, mixed media techniques and paper manipulation, ‘book like’ structures produced by those who took part now form a very personal and beautiful collection of artworks, which will travel to various locations throughout Three Rivers.
Flea will continue to work with residents at Margaret House Care Home in Abbots Langley and a group at Chalmers Court Day Centre in Rickmansworth, to continue the project’s legacy and form part of our future commitment to projects which champion positive mental health and wellbeing through the arts.
