Summer Arts Activities at Huddersfield Art Gallery

Creative Fun at the Gallery!

Children can explore their creative side at Huddersfield Art Gallery this summer with these workshops led by professional artists exploring different themes.

Tue 12 Aug 1.30-3.30

Art Explorers

This mixed media workshop led by artist Amy Hirst will explore our own stories and ideas about paintings in the gallery. Children will create their own unique artwork. Further information about Amy and her work can be found at http://www.sensation-arts.co.uk/.

Tue 19 Aug 1.30-3.30

Drawing Inspiration

For children that love to draw, this workshop by artist Jake Attree will be the perfect inspiring summer activity. Further information about Jake and his work can be found at http://www.jakeattree.co.uk/.

Take inspiration from the permanent collection of Kirklees art, Perspectives: Aspects of the Kirklees Collection, which includes some world famous artists’ work including LS Lowry and Francis Bacon and also some Yorkshire inspired themes in Yorkshire Landscapes.

Also on display are famous faces from Yorkshire in Yorkshire Made Me a stunning photographic exhibition by Lynne Fletcher and Jennifer Robertson. Parents and carers can enjoy a coffee in the new pop up café area and explore Gallery 6: Yorkshire Makers, Huddersfield’s beautiful craft gallery featuring local artists’ work for sale, and pick up a postcard or small gift in the shop.

The cost of attending an activity session is £5 per child (£4 with a Kirklees Passport). Over 8s are welcome to stay on their own, please advise us of any special needs and requirements that your child may have so that we can adequately cater for these.

Booking is essential, telephone 01484 221964 (leave an answerphone message and we will return your call), or email mark.milnes@kirklees.gov.uk.
