Portraits by Hubert Von Herkomer

Portraits by Hubert Von Herkomer

Our latest Exhibition is our most ambitious yet...
Hubert von Herkomer lived and worked here in Bushey in late Victorian times. He was a prolific portrait artist , painting the great and the good at the time. We are fortunate to have a large collection of his work. As well as drawing on our own collection for this Exhibition we are showing for the first time a painting donated by the Supreme Court , a reproduction of a portrait of Baden Powell and a magnificent larger than life painting of Lady Armstrong.
As well as these large public portraits we are exhibiting smaller intimate paintings by Herkomer of his family , particularly charming are the studies of his children.
This is a free event, and we have a free car park at the rear of the Museum. We would like to welcome you all to come and enjoy the work of this remarkable artist. The Museum is open Thursday to Sunday from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.
