A Book Festival venue with a difference in Berkhamsted

A Book Festival venue with a difference in Berkhamsted

BerkoFest Book Festival will have all of the ingredients that you might expect of a literary festival – author talks, storytelling and interactive workshops, but what’s perhaps less predictable is that some of the festival activities will be held in the Rectory Lane Cemetery.
The Cemetery is the focus of a Lottery Funded Project of the Friends of St Peter’s Great Berkhamsted, whose mission is to

‘Change perceptions of cemeteries as “dead spaces”, transforming ours into a vibrant and diverse contemporary garden of commemoration, a pivotal heritage asset and an environmental haven by making connections, promoting health and wellbeing and welcoming all’.

Buy a ticket online to access BerkoFest venues at the Town Hall and the Cemetery. You’ll find my greeting cards with a difference on sale in the Exhibits gazebo, near the Rectory Lane entrance to the Cemetery.
Over the coming months I’ll be helping the Project with photography, to record the craftsmanship, the way of life and some of the human relationships preserved in stone at the Cemetery. I’ll be there on the 12th May and will be happy to show you some of the discoveries I’ve made so far.
