BFI Film Academy - Applications now open

Are you 16-19? Passionate about film? Want a career in the film industry?

If so, the BFI Film Academy Bradford is for you.

This course offers you the chance to be part of our future film industry.

As a student of the Film Academy:

You will get hands-on filmmaking experience which will help you to develop practical knowledge and skills.
You can explore your own creativity and passions in a supportive and dynamic environment.
You will gain invaluable experience working alongside industry professionals who are respected practitioners in their field.
You will watch a range of cinema from British independent to specialised films.
You will work towards a practical film-based project, either individually or as part of a team
You will work towards the NCFE Preparing to Work in the Film Industry qualification

You’ll be required to plan your work, create and maintain your own online portfolio and attend the course sessions on the following course dates:

Saturday 13 & 20 October 2018
Monday 29 October – Saturday 3 November 2018
One Saturday morning in November (tbc) for your film premiere.

Once you have completed the Network course, you will become part the growing BFI Film Academy alumni network with access to events such as BAFTA career talks.

Applications are welcome from talented young filmmakers from all backgrounds. If you think you will struggle to pay the £25 course fee, please still apply – if you have the talent the BFI will do its best to make sure you can attend.

Bursaries are available if you require assistance with travel, childcare or other costs. More information about who can apply for bursaries can be found on the weblink

What’s more, you could also apply for one of the BFI Film Academy’s seven intensive residential programmes. Courses last between one and two weeks and are designed to develop more specialist filmmaking skills. You will work closely with leading industry professionals who will give you a unique insight into the filmmaking business and guide you along the way.
