Light Night Leeds 2015 - Call for artists' proposals

Arts Development in Leeds City Council are pleased to announce that the 11th Light Night Leeds festival, supported by Arts Council England, will take place 6-11pm on Friday 9th October 2015.

Artists and arts organisations are invited to submit proposals for the Light Night programme. They are looking for high quality, visually engaging work across all art forms including light projections and installations, sculpture, visual arts, performance, music, theatre, dance and street entertainment. 2015 is the UNESCO International Year of Light, so they are asking artists to respond to the theme of light in a very broad sense, or artists can choose to respond to the city of Leeds in terms of its history, stories, people, and buildings, or imagine Leeds in the future. They are especially interested in interactive or participatory work, and events or activities which are accessible to families.

Light Night will commission up to 15 pieces of new work from established artists and each selected artist will receive a bursary of £500 plus up to £300 for materials. The SHINE programme will support 5 new and emerging artists who will be eligible for a £350 bursary as well as a materials budget, additional support, training and mentoring.
