Music Leader, WIRED Music Technology Club - YSWN

Yorkshire Sound Women Network (YSWN) is seeking an experienced female identifying or minority gender* Music Leader for a new WIRED Music Technology Club in Wakefield.

WIRED is a participatory music technology programme taking place across Yorkshire combining face-to-face and online activities, enabling girls and people of minority genders to develop creative music technology skills alongside expert music leaders.

WIRED is funded by the National Foundation for Youth Music.

Project Details

The first in-person WIRED music technology club will be established in partnership with Wakefield Music Hub, for 15 girls, young women and people of minority genders aged 11-18 years old. Weekly 90-minute sessions will give participants practical experience of a wide range of music tech areas, ending with creative outputs such as a shared performance or recording.

Sessions will take place on the following dates:

Planning Day in w/c 9 May

Weekly sessions at Manygates Centre, Wakefield WF2 7DQ from 6-7.30pm on 18/25 May, 8/15/22/29 June, 6/13 July

One-off session at a venue partner in Wakefield on 16 July from 10am-4pm

The Music Leader will work as part of a tutor team to plan and deliver a music technology club for girls & young women aged 11–18 years old with the aim of improving the confidence and skill levels of participants in using music technology. Sessions are to be practical, fun and responsive to the interests and needs of the participants, who may have no previous experience.

Applicants must be available for all workshop dates.

The total fee for this role is £1750 plus travel.

*This role is for a woman or person of minority gender to meet the need to provide the course participants with positive role models around gender equality in music technology. The other music leader on the course is male.
