Freelance Creative, The Sparky Initiative
The Sparky Initiative (www.sparkyandmagma.com) is looking to commission 2 Artists, who already have links with or who have experience of working with, and would like to develop a project with, socially excluded community groups, in Medway and the surrounding area.
As Part of the Fuse Medway Festival, The Sparky Initiative has been commissioned to produce the opening parade of the three day Arts festival. As part of this we are looking to include as many members of the community as possible, and we are looking to appoint someone who has the relevant skills and background in order to achieve this.
The Artist will plan and deliver a series of 3 half day workshops with their community groups. The outcome of these workshops will be something that the group members can wear during the parade. i.e. Head dresses, Masks, costumes, Flags/ Banners, etc It is also possible to make a collaborative 3d structure, but this has to be mobile and manoeuvrable predominately by the members of the group or appointed helpers on the day of the Parade.
Dates:
The workshops can be held at any time that best suits the selected Artist and the Group, between the May and June. The Fuse Community Parade will take place on Friday the 15thJune, with an early evening start time TBC.
Fee £600 (inc material)
Artist must be able to supply a copy of a full enhanced CRB and relevant PPL insurance
