Give Art For Christmas

Exeter gallery says Give Art For Christmas with work under £500

Original artwork priced £500 and under is the key highlight at leading gallery gloss-Art Exeter this Christmas.

The Give Art For Christmas exhibition aims to make original work affordable to everyone. Over one hundred paintings, pieces of one off jewellery, ceramics, glassware and limited edition etchings have been installed in three areas of the beautiful Georgian gallery, inviting audiences to look for a unique purchase this Christmas.

gloss-Art Exeter Manager, Lucinda Cusdin, said: ‘Give Art For Christmas is a an opportunity for people in Exeter to buy a quality, handmade work of art for their loved ones. We have a huge selection of original gifts ranging from hand made baubles by Bollywood Baubles (£2.95) and Shakspeare Glass (£10.66), to original paintings and photographs priced at £500 and below. Some members of the South West Academy have even created special pieces for the exhibition and are priced at a very affordable £250.

Visitors can also enjoy hand made original ceramics by Bethan Jones Slipware and Michael Taylor, jewellery by Kye Tew and Jan Petitjean, photography by Charles Turner and Michael Carter SWAc and original work by Tony Williams SWAc, Arthur Homeshaw RWA, Ruth Bowyer SWAc and Yvonne Coomber just to name a few.''

To make buying originals even easier, gloss offers the Own Art payment plan, which is funded by the Arts Council and allows you to pay over ten monthly instalments interest free.

gloss-Art Exeter Manager, Lucinda Cusdin, added: 'It is a great way to break up the payment as you can put down a deposit and pay the rest over ten months. If a work is £150, you could put down a £50 deposit and pay the remaining £100 over ten months at £10 per month. The beauty of Own Art is that the work can be taken away after 14 days and you can spread the cost.

For people that want something more flexible, you can also pay in private instalments. Most people will pay a deposit and then make a payment at the end of each month as and when they get paid.”

The display is the third Christmas show the gallery has put on since it's opening in 2010 and this year they are opening 10am - 5pm during Sundays and until 9pm on Thursdays during December to make the exhibition more accessible to people working in the city.

Give Art For Christmas is taking place at gloss Art Exeter at No.1 Barnfield Crescent, Exeter (opposite the Barnfield Theatre) from now until Sunday 5th January.
