Screening of 'Hector' for Squatlife/St Albans Film Festival

As part of St Albans Film Festival we are screening ‘Hector’, the story of a man who has been living on the motorways for years. His once comfortable family life has been replaced by a never-ending tour of service stations that offer him shelter, anonymity, washing facilities and food. The story follows his journey south from Scotland on his annual pilgrimage to a temporary Christmas shelter in London where he finds comfort, friendship and warmth.

This film is part of the ‘Squatlife’ Project which features an Exhibition of Dave Kotula’s 1980’s squat photographs at the new St Albans Museum and Gallery from Saturday 14th July through to Sunday 26th August. There are a number of freeevents, including a performance at the Abbey Theatre on Friday 27th July of the nationally acclaimed Cardboard Citizens, with actors from the local homeless community telling their stories in a ‘forum theatre’ production. Walk a Day in My Shoes will feature a selection of photographs from Herts Young Homeless facilitated by a professional photographer. This project has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund along with contributions from St Albans Museums and Galleries Trust, Rumball Sedgwick and 1Life.

We would like to thank Metro Bank for offering this venue and supporting the project and St Albans Film Festival for featuring us in their programme.
