hcmf// presents CoMA Festival

hcmf// and CoMA Festival are excited to present a day of free workshops at St Paul’s Hall on Saturday 28 April. These workshops will provide participants with the opportunity to explore improvised music-making and ensemble playing.

We are looking for participants for two music-making workshops on Saturday 28 April! Suitable for both musicians and those with no prior experience interested in creating sounds.

To book a place on either workshop, or would like to receive further information, please email alex@hcmf.co.uk.

Workshop 1 is an inclusive opportunity to try group playing with composer and teacher Katie Warburton, who will guide participants through rehearsals of scores by James Tenney (In a Large Open Space) and Zoë Martlew (Slap-on).

This workshop is open to participants who can read music at grade 3+ standard.

//

Workshop 2 explores experimental music-making through improvisation, looping and electronics. Participants will have the opportunity to create and perform their own piece of music with sound artist Russell Gray.

This workshop is open to everyone, with no prior experience necessary.

//

Participants at these workshops will be invited to perform the pieces they have created and rehearsed in a free, public concert taking place after the workshops, giving them the opportunity to apply what they have learned as a group.

Workshop 1: 1pm-3pm
Workshop 2: 3.30pm-5.30pm
Performance: 6pm-7pm

Both workshops are suitable for ages 13+.
