Again another painting from imagination inspired by orthodox iconography. I wanted to paint a large angel on a large canvas and simply started with the eyes and then built the painting from there. This involved glazing of oil paint in thin layers which required drying time. This method means that a painting can take months to complete, but the visual effect of the layers of color is worth it.
