Susan Bullock: Master Class

One of the leading sopranos of her generation, Susan Bullock, is to give a talk and workshop in Letchworth Garden City ahead of the screening of her latest Royal Opera House role.

The free event at Spirella Ballroom on June 2 is an opportunity to ask a world class artist the secrets of her trade, hear about her career and how she prepares for a role.

Susan is taking the title role of Elizabeth1 in Benjamin Britten’s opera Gloriana, based on Lytton Strachey’s Elizabeth and Essex, which will be screened live at the Broadway Cinema later in June (Monday 24).

Young singers will be given the opportunity to put questions directly to Susan about practice, vocal technique, how to start a career in opera, and how to deal with nerves.

Mark Prescott, Creative Producer for the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation said: “This is a chance for opera fans, budding singers, those interested in performing and those with a general interest in the arts to glean a fascinating behind the scenes portrait into life at the Royal Opera House and how a world class singer prepares for a title role.”

Broadway Cinema’s screenings of Royal Opera House Live events have been incredibly successful, prompting the Heritage Foundation to create a series of number of complementary events.

The projects are the first in a new arts programme aimed at developing a long-standing relationship with artists and arts companies.
