Boxwood and Brass

• Beethoven: Septet in Eb, Op. 20 (arr. Czerny, 1805)

Beethoven’s Septet Op. 20 was Beethoven’s most popular chamber work – so much so, that Beethoven later remarked that he wished it had been burned. University of Huddersfield Ensemble in Association Boxwood & Brass present it in an 1805 arrangement for Beethoven’s student Carl Czerny. Czerny’s ambitious re-working, never before performed in its entirety, combines virtuosity with the myriad colours of period wind instruments.

Hosted by the ReCePP Nineteenth Century Performance Research Group.
