The Lost Sound Chorus Lost Sound Chorus

Dartmoor Folk Choir, 'The Lost Sound', are a mixed voice chorus based in Buckfastleigh. They perform regularly and have recently been supporting 'Show of Hands' at various gigs including their 25 year anniversary concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Keep an eye out for their Dartmoor tour this summer and open singing workshops with the choir. Stay updated via their website! www.thelostsoundchorus.co.uk

The Lost Sound sings a wide range of folk material from ancient melodies with contemporary arrangements to punchy pop and angular Indie songs. They have a unique relationship with composer, Chris Hoban who has written specifically for the chorus and he also writes and arranges for Show of Hands.

They offer all their singers a high level of training in vocal, choral and performance skills from the director Sandra Smith. Sandra teaches singing and coaches other choirs around the South West region and regularly runs Harmony singing courses. www.singingandbreathing.co.uk

The chorus holds an annual open evening, this year on TUESDAY JULY 18th 2017 from 8:00pm – 9:45pm. It is open to all singers and useful for prospective new members to come and find out more and see how it is to sing with The Lost Sound. Please book in advance if you're interested. We are looking for new members in all sections. See the website for current vacancies.

After this evening if you would like to audition, please let Sandra know.

Sandra says 'Our aim as a choir is to be better singers and to make better music. We have had remarkable feedback from our concerts about the quality of our singing, the blend and the emotional commitment that we bring to the songs. We want to maintain this and deliver moving and exciting performances. If you feel that this is your ambition too – we’ll be delighted to get to know you!'

All singers work within these guidelines:
• We rehearse every Tuesday evening (7.30-9.45pm), and extra rehearsals will be commonplace leading up to performances.
• We require excellent attendance for rehearsals (no more than 3 absences per term) and that you will continue to learn and practice the pieces at home.
• All singers pay subscriptions to take part in rehearsal sessions and to be part of the chorus. The 'subs' are payable in half-term instalments, which will work out at about £8 per session.
• We are interested in singers who work easily as part of a team and who are happy to fit the vision we have for the chorus and its sound.
• The ability to easily sing in tune and in harmony is essential.
• The choir is for adult members only, i.e., over 15 years-old.
