Tangerine Trees

Tangerine Trees

When I was a girl I imagined Lucy, from the Beetles song Lucy in the Sky with diamonds, was floating around in a sky full of stars in her night gown.

When working through ideas for the Eastern Region Textile Forum exhibition, A Sixties Celebration "Flower Power", my 60's connection was my childhood image and song lyrics which seemed to fit with Peter Max's artworks Adam Cosmo and Different Drummer.

I wanted the tapestry to play with light so it is displayed in a frame allowing light from the back so different effects can be created dependant on how where and how it's hung.

Tangerine Trees is woven in repurposed and second hand fibres; fishing line, wool, cotton, metallic threads. The flowers are woven on circle looms before being embedded into the tapestry background.

Tangerine Trees is in exhibition at Parndon Mill in Harlow until August 6th.
