Pirate Day @ Hope Forge

Bring the family to our Fun Day at Hope Pit. Pirates are the theme of the day and there are lots of activities planned for everyone!

Nicholson and Harris, Blacksmiths @Pit

Our resident Blacksmiths Martin and Jayne will be having a 'Forge-Off' showing off their skills on the anvills at 11.30am. Our very own Captain Jack Sparrow will be judging and he will announce the winner!

Treasure Hunt along the Nature Trail starting at 12 noon.

Maps will be available from the Forge.

Pirate Fancy Dress competition .. free to enter

Judging will be at 1pm by our own Captain Jack Sparrow! Prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd places.

Adults are also welcome to enter the fancy dress competition. The prize for over 18's category is a chance to come to the forge and have a go at making a small item which they can take home.

Blacksmiths Demo at 2pm

This demo will be aimed at entertaining our younger visitors, adding a little theatre to the performance by delivering a touch of magic to the flames in the forge, in the form of sparks flying and fire that changes colour!

Artist Nicholas Vaughan will exhibiting some of his work on a mining theme in the gallery in front of the Blacksmiths Workshop. Thsi work has recently been on display in Wakefield town centre.
