Head of Communications

Head of Communications will lead the Communications Team in the marketing and PR of Rhythms of the World (ROTW), keeping the profile of the charity high and encouraging people to get involved – as festival-goers, volunteers and funders. The post covers the areas of:

• Press & PR (local, regional and national) – print and radio
• Website
• Advertising (free and paid-for)
• Social media
• Branding
• Copywriting
• E-newsletter
• Design & print
• Calendar and group emails
• Photography

The post holder will report to the Trustees and work closely with the other Group Leaders – Finance, Event Management, Performance, Art and Volunteer Management.
Duties & Responsibilities
• To be a spokesperson for the organisation, liaising with the press as required, including radio interviews
• To provide final ‘sign off’ for all press releases, website developments, design work, branding and marketing issues
• To manage a team of volunteers, ensuring their skills are fully utilised and they are happy in their roles; keep them informed of developments across the organisation
• To ensure all tasks are completed, even when vacant positions exist within the team
• To lead a team meeting (monthly, more frequent at festival time)
• To work with the Volunteer Coordinators to ensure vacant positions are advertised when required
• To attend a Group Leaders and Trustees meeting (monthly, more frequent at festival time)
• All other reasonable tasks required by the Trustees.

Skills required
• Excellent written English
• Ability to manage several complex projects at any one time
• Attention to detail
• Ability to meet every deadline
• Experience of marketing/branding (desirable)
