Sheila’s artwork takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues combining themes from Sublime Art through Feminist Theory and into Maternal Subjectivity. She teaches printmaking in secondary schools, colleges and on the Artscool! project at University of Hertfordshire. Sheila makes complex mixed media artwork using a variety of materials and processes with printmaking as a central core. To see more of Sheila’s work go to http://sheiladerosa.co.uk

For many years Sheila has been working with and teaching Solar Plate Printmaking. This is a relatively new print process that enables images to be established onto metal plates by exposure to light using sunlight or an ultra violet light source. The plates are developed by washing in water and can be printed as intaglio or relief prints. Unlike traditional etching techniques, no acid etching is necessary and no toxic chemicals are used in the plate-making process. It is a very versatile artistic medium which exploits drawing abilities, computer and graphic skills and gestural mark making.

Sheila has devised a new PRINTING FROM MEMORY workshop that uses photos of your favourite memories, transferred onto paper, wood or fabric and is then enhanced using a Monoprinting technique to create original prints with very personal memories. These are broken down into two, two-hour sessions.
