St Albans Museums runs several sites including Verulamium Museum and the 15th century Clock Tower. We are currently carrying out an exciting project to develop a New Museum and Gallery in St Albans Town Hall, at the heart of the city centre. Partnering with UH Galleries, the New Museum and Gallery will rejuvenate the cultural vivacity of the city, the district and the wider region. It will offer a focus for arts, culture and heritage linked to to the city’s unique place in local, regional, national and world history.
In this key role you will work with the museum team and UH Gallery to develop programmes of events, activities and exhibitions to broaden the reach of the service, ensuring an excellent visitor experience. You will develop, manage and evaluate programmes and resources to provide learning and access across the Service. You will work closely with teachers, community groups, voluntary groups and other providers to develop new partnerships which promote education and learning opportunities.
Educated to degree level or equivalent with a learning qualification or relevant experience, you will have sound working knowledge of the National Curriculum. Previous experience of delivering learning activities and/or museum education is essential for this post. You will also be writing and/or producing educational materials (print and web based) for a variety of audiences.
Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills together with previous experience of devising educational programmes and activities is essential for this post. You must also be an excellent communicator with supervisory skills together with the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
