Mask / Half Mask / Physical Theatre

Trestle’s INSET courses for drama teachers, professional practitioners and workshop leaders provide a unique opportunity to develop teaching and performance skills in mask, half mask and physical theatre, as well as discovering new ways of helping students create dynamic performances.

Led by professional theatre practitioners these practical one day drama INSET workshops are held regularly at our home in St Albans, Trestle Arts Base or can be delivered at external venues.

Mask Theatre

This fun, accessible workshop will help strengthen your practice of using Trestle full masks as a tool for both theatre and social development. The day consists of experiencing exercises and learning teaching techniques to develop physical awareness, mask performance and creative devising.

Physical Theatre

This one-day practical workshops will teach you to work imaginatively with storytelling, using body, voice and mind to devise and create exciting theatre. Participants will discover new ways of of creating and teaching physical languages with which to make rich visual and physical performance.

Half Mask Theatre

This highly effective workshop introduces Trestle’s dynamic new half masks as a tool for developing skills in physical and vocal agility. The half masks represent eight archetypal characters and each has its own vocal and movement quality. The workshop consists of experiencing exercises and learning techniques to develop the physical awareness and precision of movement required for mask performance and to liberate physical and vocal improvisation in half mask.

Cost: £140.00 per day / £260 for 2 days / £370 for 3 days

Lunch and refreshments included

The cost includes lunch, refreshments and comprehensive notes on the workshops.

We can also visit your school/an external venue to deliver an INSET day: £600 for 6-18 participants + travel
