The Birthday of the Infanta - Promotional Film 2

Toured the UK from 2 March - 8 May 2011

Adults and young people alike are invited by the Infanta, the Spanish princess, to her twelfth birthday party. This is the only day of the year she is allowed to play with other children, but mixing with those not of her own rank comes at a price.

Adapted from the bittersweet story by Oscar Wilde and performed in Trestle’s unique physical storytelling style, The Birthday of the Infanta captures a transitional moment of choice when the heart could melt or freeze.

Drawing on the passion and rhythms of Spain, Trestle Unmasked takes you on a compelling journey, through the constraints of social hierarchies to the price paid for love.

Press Quotes:
"Trestle’s ability to develop such beautiful and imaginative theatre through combining all aspects of story, physicality, choreography, music and design is pure brilliance. For young people, the imaginative and at times gently participatory nature of this performance is compelling and the intense relationship between the audience and the single performer is fascinating." - 4*

"In the directorial hands of Emily Gray it (The Birthday of the Infanta) sparkles and disturbs, as well as leaving the audience marvelling at the pounding energy and virtuosic talent of Georgina Roberts." -
