Lockdown Livestream - blues & roots with Kyla Brox

Our February Lockdown Livestream will feature a top notch double bill of blues, folk/roots and Americana! We welcome sensational British blues artist Kyla Brox, with an opening set of old time Americana from Simon Robinson. The musicians will live stream from their homes and we'll broadcast to True North Music's Facebook page and YouTube channel (see links below)

Hailing from Manchester, Kyla Brox has been described as “the finest female blues singer of her generation”. Winner of numerous awards including the 2018 UK Blues Challenge and Best Female Vocalist at the 2019 European Blues Awards, Kyla has been a professional musician since the age of twelve. With many albums and numerous tours under her belt, Kyla is widely regarded as one of the very best blues singers the British Isles have ever produced. She'll be performing for us in a duo with her husband and musical partner, virtuoso acoustic guitarist Danny Blomeley. Opening the show will be talented Leeds-based banjoist, guitarist and singer Simon Robinson, who will perform a set of footstomping old time Appalachian tunes and evocative folk songs, in a duo with gifted fiddle player Mick Russell.

True North Music is a dynamic Huddersfield-based roots music promoter. In the absence of our "real life" music series, we're hosting occasional online concerts featuring some of the finest acoustic roots artists we know. This live streamed gig follows on from our successful Fall into Autumn Festival back in October, both supported by some funding from Arts Council England's Project Grants: Supporting Grassroots Live Music fund. We still need your help to make the whole project a success! The live stream will be freely available to enjoy, but please do consider donating if you have the means. This will enable us to balance our budget, cover our costs and pay the artists a reasonable fee.

We've been running our popular True North Music concert series since 2015, showcasing some of the finest talent in bluegrass, Americana and folk/roots at around 50 gigs in Meltham, Marsden and Sheffield. This is obviously a devastating time for musicians, concert organisers and the entire live music scene, so please do support the event if you can.
