Val Pettifer Chair of the Royston Arts Society

Royston Arts Society was founded in 1978 making this year it's 35th anniversary. We now have over a 100 members, ranging from professional artists to individuals who love to meet up and paint for pleasure, whilst enjoying the company of other like minded people.

A programme of activities are held each year, including a monthly professional art demonstration held on the last Friday of each month in Room 11, Royston Town Hall from 8 - 10pm (note: from April 2014 the venue moves to Market Hill Rooms, Fish Hill, Royston). A practical painting session is held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 2 - 4pm in Market Hill Rooms. Members can attend any of these events free, and visitors pay £2.

RAS members also have a permanent art display in Royston Library with everything for sale at very affordable prices. And the highlight of the year is the autumn exhibition, held on the last weekend in September in Royston Town Hall, in collaboration with the Royston Arts Festival. This is an open exhibition, so non-members are also welcome. We also plan to hold a spring exhibition in The Old School Studio next April, so keep an eye on our website!
