Matt Harvey

Matt Harvey

AN EVENING OF POETRY AND COMEDY WITH MATT HARVEY

If you know Matt Harvey as the official Poet at Wimbledon 2010 or from Radio 4’s ‘Saturday Live’ where he is often ‘Poet in Residence’ for Fi Glover, you will know that Stoke Fleming Village Hall is very lucky indeed to have this outstanding on Friday 10th of June at 7.30pm.

Matt’s star is rising faster now after his new show delighted audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Four-star reviews for his laid-back style that “ . . . holds his audience captivated from the first time he opens his mouth to the moment we must reluctantly allow him to leave the stage.” Rose Wilkinson, Fest, 15th August 09.

Matt’s quiet delivery, humour, self-deprecating irony and poems delivered mostly from memory, is clever and very witty. He plays with words, rhymes and rhythms and sometimes at break-neck speed but each word is clearly defined. His delivery is unassuming but he has a killer timing that underpins it all to get maximum impact from the most unlikely of subjects; tea bags, curtains and vegetables.

Matt has a huge following across Devon and a growing fan-base across the rest of the UK. As Rose Wilkinson said, “ . . .Matt Harvey really does have it all – including an absolute gem of a show.”

Tickets for this performance are available from 01803 866672 priced £7.
