Ware Poets 30+ years of vibrant poetry & spoken word in Ware

Ware Poets arrange monthly poetry events featuring an open mic session and hosting some of the best contemporary poets.

Everyone is always welcome, whether to read a poem or to simply enjoy listening in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Our monthly events are held at Southern Maltings in Ware. They begin with the open mic session, followed by a reading by an invited guest poet. There is an interval giving time to chat and a bar to purchase drinks.

We also run a highly regarded annual poetry competition and enjoy holding poetry events in the community.

Our previous guest poets include Simon Armitage and Carol Ann Duffy (current and former Poet Laureates), Kathleen Jamie and Jackie Kay (current and former Makars of Scotland), Daljit Nagra, Hannah Copley, Pascal Petit, Keith Jarrett, Imtiaz Dharker, Patience Agbabi, and many many more.
