I use a multi-disciplinary approach to my visual arts practice, working with a wide range of different mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture and photography. I also create trans-disciplinary pieces transcending between art and science to create a type xenogenesis. A career in physical and biological sciences has helped shape my art practice. The focus of my work has evolved over time. Initially I studied the form in minute detail, specifically looking for abnormalities, to being drawn to how forms (inorganic or organic) occupy the impermeant space they inhabit. Although my art is often grouped into collections; they are not always hermetic.

Born in Queensland, Australia, I have travelled extensively around the world. My art practice is currently located in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Being an artist based in different countries has exposed me to a distinctive array of colour palettes, from the ochre of Central Queensland to the muted greens and greys of Yorkshire. These extremes in environs, have made me particularly sensitive to and aware of how light affects colour and feeds my ongoing fascination of colour theory.

My artistic journey started when I was asked to take to anatomical photos using a microscope, as part of a research project at Kings College London (KCL, UK). Later, I was sponsored by the Creative Industries Development Agency (CIDA) to develop my visual arts practice. Part of this funding included an opportunity to study on the visual arts programme at Artworks (UK): a structured drawing and painting curriculum of work that dealt comprehensively with the creative, analytical and observational act of drawing and painting under the excellent mentorship of Peter Stanyer MA (RCA). From there I landed my first tutoring job with Derbyshire County Council's Adult Community Education programme, teaching 'Drawing and Painting Techniques', in Ashbourne. My 3D education began in earnest when I received instruction in sculpture at City Lit, London, UK. I was also given an opportunity to train (and exhibit) in sand sculpture techniques funded by The Sand House, the Arts Council England Lottery, Invest in Doncaster, Success Doncaster. I view my work with fabrics as another sculptural form. I studied Draping Womenswear and Patternmaking at UAL: Central St Martins (Granary Square, London, UK).
