Drifting into Plein Air
Jolanta Bogdan’s appreciation of landscape painting stems from her enjoyment of English nature, particularly the coastline, countryside and moorland surrounding Plymouth. Some of the less than idyllic views offer a contrast and she says, “A lot of differences in landscape are truly inspiring for artists.” Combining realism with a semi-abstract approach, Jolanta has developed a style rich in colour and texture which she hopes offers a sense of the ambience of a place.
Before settling in Plymouth, Jolanta studied in Cracow, gaining a Master of Arts Degree from the Academy of Fine Arts. She particularly enjoys still life painting, but since moving to England she has developed a series of landscape paintings.
As well as exhibiting at Harbour House in 2014 and in open art exhibitions, Jolanta’s work has been shown at Buckfast Abbey and Delamore Arts, and on the front cover of Paint Magazine.
