Triangle Community Garden About us:

The Triangle Garden is a community garden, created and cultivated by local people of all ages and abilities, in Ransom’s Rec, Hitchin. Connect, Grow, Enjoy!

We aim to enable people of all ages and abilities to experience and explore their relationship with the natural world through a variety of different activities:

Community gardening - bringing people together to create, develop and nurture the Triangle Garden and its Forest Garden, in a sustainable and enjoyable way. Experience all the benefits that contact with nature can bring to ourselves and our children - why not join us! see back page for details

Wildlife walks and talks – our family-friendly wildlife discovery activities include pond dipping, a bat walk, and a mini-beast safari. Any profits are reinvested into the Garden’s work. Details are available on our website as the events come up.

Community events - we run several local events annually including Hitchin’s Apple Day in October, our Open Day and Fun Dog Show in June, The Triangle Garden Talk by a well-known gardening expert (part of the Hitchin Festival), a Teddy Bear’s Tea Party and Heritage Bake Off in September and our Halloween festivities at the Garden.

Through these events we aim to nurture community spirit and promote all the things we stand for, such as living sustainability, caring for the environment, working with nature, and ensuring our children understand why all this matters.

Our ability projects for people with learning disabilities - Growing Ability is our social and therapeutic horticulture project based at our allotment and at the garden Triangle Garden. Growing Gang is a similar work- experience project. Both are focused on the abilities and needs of the individual.

Growing Health is focused on supporting adults with learning disabilities to lead active healthy lives. To learn more about our Ability projects (and about social therapeutic horticulture) please visit our website, pick up the relevant leaflet or to volunteer, contact Project Manager, Liz McElroy.
